FAQs
Do I really need an application coach?
This is what every prospective client wants to know.
I bet like most everyone I coach, you have received support from family and friends, sometimes from mentors, and have been reassured that you are on the right track. You've been told that your application looks great or that your interview skills are solid. I get it. But, as much as those individuals intend and often do provide helpful advice, they are not professional career coaches and have not spent decades assisting others with polishing applications or interviewing skills. It is really as simple as that.
If this weren't a high-stakes juncture in your career, it's unlikely you'd be reading this.
As an experienced application coach, I provide guidance which is honest, actionable and will ensure that you put forward a polished application. As a perceptive and results-driven interview coach, I will teach you how to present yourself to your best advantage during those all-important interviews which can make or break a candidate.
Why should I select you?
Another great question.
Many of my competitors in this space use residents, college students, college graduates and even residency and fellowship-trained physicians to provide these services. While these individuals may have graduated from top universities, excelled at competitive residency and fellowship programs, and possess good writing and editorial skills , the role of experience and expertise, particularly as a program director and career coach professional should not be underestimated.
I have worked with college students, medical students and residency applicants from around the world for over two decades and understand your unique challenges. I am a Certified Student Career Coach and Interview Coach and know how to teach you the skills you need. Quite honestly, I don't believe there's anyone better out there to help you.
If you are on the fence, I'd love for you to read the reviews from those who have used my services and decide for yourself.
What's it like to work with you?
My coaching style is both collaborative and directive in nature, depending on what is needed. I will be honest and clear about your unique situation and how I see your options. And I will always value your perspective as my client.
On every personal values assessment I have ever taken, kindness, integrity and perspective always show up at the top of the my list. I'm pretty sure all those whom I have coached and mentored would agree.
It's important to let you know that I am incredibly detail-oriented and won't settle for anything which doesn't showcase my clients to their best advantage. No matter what.
My goal is always to over-deliver and if you engage my services, I promise the same.
Do you work with older graduates and those who have "red flags"?
I take on any client who is genuinely interested in working hard to strengthen their application and interview skills. My only demand is that you are honest with me about your situation and will put in effort at least equal to my own.
I understand that red flags - whether they be one's year of graduation (YOG), USMLE poor score or failure, lack of US clinical experience, transition to a different specialty or something else - are worrisome to applicants who often need advice as to how to handle these concerns.
I will work with you to help put yourself in the best light while navigating these obstacles for success in today's competitive residency market. I am particularly proud of helping match many candidates whose YOG is >10 years from residency application.
